MSSC Authorized Assessment Center of the Year Winner!

Happy Manufacturing Day! We received so many amazing submissions for our MSSC Authorized Assessment Center of the Year Contest. This year we have selected Bossier Parish Community College! See their story below, congratulations!

“As an MSSC Authorized Assessment Center, Bossier Parish Community College’s Testing Center is pleased to deliver MSSC assessments to students enrolled in the Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Division’s Advanced Manufacturing and Mechatronics program. The program started in 2014 with grant funds from the U. S. Department of Labor. The one-semester 12-hour Certificate for Manufacturing (C4M) provides students the opportunity to earn a MSSC Certified Production Technician (CPT) industry-based certification by passing four MSSC CPT assessments including CPT Safety, CPT Quality Practices & Measurement, CPT Process & Production, and CPT Maintenance Awareness.”

“Ken Ward, an instructor in BPCC’s Advanced Manufacturing program, says “Having BPCC’s Testing Center available to deliver internationally recognized certifications on the same campus where students research, study, and socialize is paramount to their success.”

“Every student who has successfully gained the CPT certification has either continued their education with Associate Degrees or gone on to employment with several local manufacturing firms. BPCC’s partnerships with ValveWorks USA and Benteler Steel have placed dozens of students into the manufacturing workforce in the Shreveport/Bossier City region. In fact, during a recent conversation with another potential BPCC business partner, the hiring manager noted that candidates with the MSSC CPT certification could qualify for an additional $0.50 per hour more in pay. Our students are fortunate to have such a great resource in the BPCC Testing Center on campus to add to their academic experience.”
